Interesting information and terms and conditions

Please read this page before you book

Please do read this page before you book.

Here we explain a bit more about our facilities, what is available (and what is not), and answer some common questions.

If you don't see the answer here to your question, please do either give us a call or send an email.

The tents

  • We have two 5 metre diameter dome tents.  They have a large door with bug screen and two bug screened ‘windows’ for ventilation.  We suggest you keep the bug screens closed (certainly at night).

  • The tents can get chilly overnight if it is cool outside.  We provide extra blankets, hot water bottles and wood burners in each tent to keep you cosy and warm.

  • The tents are pitched on soft wood-chippings with a natural coir carpet inside so they are soft and comfortable to walk on.

  • There is a wooden platform veranda at the entrance to each tent.

  • Our bedding is comfortable and luxurious!  Let us know if you need extra pillows.

  • We provide a set of towels for each person plus a towel to be used by the pool.

  • We also provide bath robes for nipping to the bathrooms and back.

The site

Car parking

  • Is by the kitchen / relaxing area.  It’s a short walk down the path to each tent.  We can help with luggage.

The site

  • Is gated / fenced / hedged all the way around, but the gate is not locked.

Facilities

Kitchen

  • Full kitchen with everything you should need.  Let us know if we’ve forgotten anything!

    • Coffee maker

    • Dishwasher

    • Washing machine

    • Fridge and freezer

Bathrooms

  • Two shower rooms, each with an electric radiator.

Electricity and charging

  • We have plugs / charging points in the kitchen and lounge area.

  • There is also an outdoor plug by the pool.

  • The tents are ‘off grid’.  There are rechargeable / solar lights in the tents.

Accessibility

We have tried to build the bathrooms and kitchen area so that they can be wheelchair accessed

but they are currently up one step and then on one level.

The tents are up one step onto decking.

The pool is up 3 steps.

If you have accessibility needs, do give us a call or send a message and we can talk about how to make the site fully accessible for you.

Food

  • We provide tea, coffee, hot chocolate, salt and pepper, and a mini starter pack for when you arrive.

  • In season there are fresh herbs in the garden.

  • There is a fully fitted full size kitchen with fridge and freezer for you to cater for yourselves.

  • You could organise an online home delivery from Intermarche supermarket before you arrive, we’d be happy to unpack and put in the fridge / freezer for you.

  • Alternatively the nearest little grocery shop is 3Km away in Moutier Malcard and the nearest supermarkets about 10 min drive away.

Eco and self sustainability

  • Our electricity is almost fully powered by our solar panels (depending on the weather).

  • We grow much of our own vegetables, fruit and herbs.

  • We avoid single use plastic where we can.

  • We use water butts to collect rainwater for the garden.

  • We have our own sustainably managed woodland where we source logs for our wood burners.

  • We are not on mains sewerage.  Instead we have our own individual wastewater treatment eco-fosse system that filters and treats our waste.

    • For this reason we need to be careful what goes down the drains, the sinks and into the toilet.

    • We ask you not to put any of the following down the sink or the toilet:  hair, ground coffee, dental floss, nappies, period products, cigarette butts, condoms, plasters, fat or oil, paper towels, bleach

  • Recycling - we are lucky to be able to recycle all packaging.   See the Evolis23 website for details  https://www.evolis23.fr/je-trie/

Arrival and Departures

  • Usually the tents will be ready for 2pm but may be available earlier depending on the previous day’s booking.

  • Please try to arrive before 9pm at night (we realise you may not always be in control of your travel and arrival time).  If you are delayed,  please do try to let us know by text, phone, WhatsApp etc.

  • You’re welcome to arrive earlier, but please let us know.  The kitchen / lounge area will be available to you if the tent(s) are still be being prepared.

  • We ask you to check out of the tent by 10am so that we can change and clean it ready for the next guests.   You can stay on site as long as you don’t mind us cleaning around you!

Damage Deposit

  • To cover unforeseen big accidents or deliberate damage we ask for a 100 euro deposit when you arrive.  We return this as soon as you leave and we’ve checked everything, and always within 7 days of your departure.

  • We do understand accidents can happen and expect normal wear and tear and breakages,  will take each situation on a case by case basis.

Personal belongings and valuables

  • We are in the middle of rural France with not much passing traffic, but please do not leave valuables in your tent or on show if you go out.

  • Please make sure you have appropriate travel insurance.

  • We can’t accept liability for personal belongings but we can keep anything you’re worried about in the house if you go out.  We’re usually home.

Smoking – Fire - Wood burners

Please,  NO SMOKING at all (cigarettes or vapes) inside the tents.

This is a safety issue as well and keeping the tents pleasant for others.

No OPEN FLAMES inside the tents please

Using the WOOD BURNERS in the tents

  • Please only use the wood we provide.  We will explain how best to use the wood burners and provide kindling for you.

  • Please read the fire safety instructions and make sure you know where the fire blanket and fire extinguisher is before you use the wood burners.

Dogs

Please talk to us if you want to bring your dog.

Usually,

  • You can bring one or two well behaved small or medium dogs.  The site is enclosed but small dogs might be able to get through the gate.

  • There are parts of the garden we’d like them NOT to enter (for example the kitchen garden with our vegetable patches),  so usually we say dogs are welcome on a case by case basis.

  • You must of course clean up after your dogs please.

  • Please don’t take glass around the pool, we have plastic glasses you can use.

  • We do have ‘pool noodles’ and floats.
